Hmm things are not good in the section at the mo … its like working with a load of kids. Fav person is annoyed ‘cos one of the new blokes want to be professional in his work and the person concerned is annoyed with fav person as he doesn’t seem to think a paperwork trail and informing the client they can’t have what they want for the money they have in their budget is important. So once more you end up with reason why the highways in Portsmouth are seen as a joke by many members of the public. It helps if the schemes you are working on you can see the benefits and can have enthusiasm behind them … but not here, they pretty much seem ridiculous in most cases … yet more ammunition for the public.
The new bloke was particularly annoyed in receiving an e-mail from fav person at 2130hrs last night on the issue. What possesses a person to do a full day’s work, go to an evening meeting and then go back and do some more work? I know he has no life outside work (and seems to think than many others here shouldn't have lives/ families outside work) but how does his mind work, does his mind work? Besides he must be working against the EU directive that you should have 11 hours off between working days to allow for sleep and R&R. I hate sections that seem to think its more important the number of hours you work than the quality of the work and completion of projects on time that matters (which doesn’t seem to work on the hours basis). Oh to be back in Maritime once more … I’m starting to get really annoyed here, at least I have a site to escape to now (and very nice views it has too when clear).
On other matters, the weekend in London was most excellent. It was very girlie and lots of laughs, giggles and general fun. We all wanted Aragon’s coat as it certainly looked as if Viggo Mortensen had lived in it the whole time and repaired it as it had the looked rather weary. The LOTR exhibition was very good and the costumes are amazing in their detailing. They certainly took a lot of time and effort to make things as realistic as possible. I also went into the Natural History Museum (to let the rain pass) for the first time ever, the others I were with had been here before …. I think its maybe a place for Me and Dr T to while away some hours next time we find ourselves in the big smoke! We had a yummy Chinese in chinatown for dinner and then retired to Greenwich Sunday morning and went around the Cutty Sark and then up to the Royal Observatory to see the meridian line etc. ..yet another place I’d not been to. We then finished things off with shopping before heading home. So all in all we got good value from our weekend travel cards.
… off up north this weekend :) and hopefully will be able to write 2 ICE essay topic essays as well as recouping some sleep. … well I can wish!
