Dr T, the Guiding Widower

This week, I will be mostly Guiding. This fine observation was made last night by Dr T, as I was trying to settle down to sleep despite still buzzing after Division AGM.

It started at the weekend with Theme Weekend (with much Brownieing (a dash of YL hat)) producing programme ideas.

Then last night we had Brownies (Day of the Dead, masks with lots of glitter … although the girls were great at tidying up (all wanting the broom or dustpan so they could clear up & helping with table putting away) followed by the first Division AGM in a number of years. Business done, Div Comm went off to collect the Fish & Chip dinners and I commenced the Quiz (informed of this fact at 2145hrs Monday, after it seemed I wasn’t doing it despite a previous offer). It went well and it seemed I had generally pitched my dad’s (he of deceptively hard wine & wisdom questions due to a very good team who usually compete in them; he’s got a reputation now for good Wine & Wisdoms locally) questions at the right level; annoyed my YG who thinks that she should be able to answer most of them (she shouldn’t as they should be pitched for a variety of ages and knowledge; hence the TG were very good at quite a few of the rounds, but let down by the music round (done by another YG, 1 60s song, couple of 80s rest more recent music … so no chance for TG!)). That said, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and I was asked for the answer on a few questions that had stumped some teams and were intrigued.

Get to the weekend and its County Day Morning followed by AGM. At least by doing the YL session that I don’t really want I get a YL session for my appointment card (which it seems current Div Comm will get sorted despite me holding the post for well over a year now!). Then as I know I’m one of the few in the Division attending County Day (due to me wanting to do my international endorsement on the County Euro Disney trip) I’ve got the standard for the AGM (which I know the TGer who sorts colour parties is a bit of a Dragon, we’ll be lucky if we have one … at the mo it me carrying and another escorting .. so we’re an escort short). Better check we have a decent bucket (aka holster) in the bag now, previously I had to carry the standard (3 section pole) in a 3inch bucket … otherwise I’m nabbing a Guide unit’s one!

Then finally we end with Church Parade on Sunday … 0915hrs (so no lie in this weekend) meet up, for a v.dull service and try to control fidgeting Brownies as they’re bored. I’m hoping none turn up so I can scoot back home as its just me there this time due to Kestrel escaping; alas I think we have some planning to attend.

Phew next week is only Brownies (I think, not sure if there is a District meeting as well … which reminds me I need to nab a SAGGA expenses sheet to adulterate for my YL hat expenses … it’s the only way its going to happen I can see).

Good job I've got Friday off as otherwise Dr T wouldn't see much of me this week!
