A good weekend

The weekend just gone, I escaped Dr T & the Flat and head up to the north (I decided a slight change onteh usual route and went past Watford Gap (oh thing of my student days, Pompog rally trips used to stop there as the dad of one of our members owned the company that ran it (and he was a Cier), its now been taken over). So escaped even further north than Dr T former Homeland and spent the weekend in pleasurable SAGGA company for Theme Weekend.

The topic for discussion/ work was Programme Ideas. We thought of quite a lot over the weekend and I think will be a good resource for both Scouters and Guiders alike. It was a good chance to see what sort of resources each organisation produces … it would seem quite a few scouters will be purchasing Guiding resources as for Cubs there’s the Brownie Adventure Files (leader resources) and Handbooks, Scouts there’s Go for Its (although maybe not Glamourama…). Also we found out that cubs don’t have a pre-promise book like the Brownies to help guide a girl towards making her promise. Hmm I may moan at times about the lack of support on the new Programme but at least we seem to have good resources for ideas! Many of the scouting lot were surprised to see we have stuff about Alcohol and solvents in the 9-10yr old Brownie Handbook, but to me that the sign of the times.

We also had a bit of badge work occurring by a Brownie & Guide (Hostess & Party Planner), along with cake experimenting.

A good weekend of great ideas (I want to try takeway lottery, saves making desicsions), good conversation & good Keema Naan (although Balti Express does beat it on the curry side).

Then to end it all just before I headed to bed last night we had the result of a SAGGA related conversation over the weekend … the arrival of its newest member.
