Go slow ...
Oh dear, you don’t want to be in a car, in Portsmouth this morning. There was an accident on the M275 at early this morning so the city was (and its seems still is) gridlocked, despite the ‘emergency traffic plan’ allegedly being in place. I gave up getting the bus and walked (very briskly, quickest time ever) into work and arrived vaguely on time (ie before 9am). I saw a total of 1 bus in the whole of the route (2miles) stationary about 5m out from a bus stop in the opposite direction, I suspect it probably took at least 1/2hr to get to the next one about 80m down the road. I’m not sure what the emergency traffic plan did other than let the city enter gridlock as a northbound artery route is out (they are meant to have the motorcycle cops out helping with traffic flow …. Nobody at work has seen any of them.
Mind you to close the motorway, it has to be pretty bad accident. Unfortunately it wasn’t that long ago since it last happened and the city was gridlocked (Nov 04), that was northbound again at evening rush. It’s nice being a walkable distance from your workplace ….

The motorway finally reopened at 11am just over 4.5hours after the accident occured, and gridlocked Portsmouth and part of the surrounding area!
