Hmm decisions
Hmm currently debating on whether to go to Theme weekend in a couple of weeks time. I thought it was a week earlier than it was, which is out so I’m actually free. It’s not all scouty so being tempted; hopefully I can pick up some new ideas, and pass on some of the stuff that’s worked well in our unit.
Talking of things that have worked well in the unit, I’ve essentially been asked to a similar thing to my bridge building night around some of the local schools to a bridge project. I was asked as I did a similar bridge liaison role for the second Swale crossing (which they have just linked up, construction having started well after I moved here) run by the chamber of commerce in my last job. I’m sort of looking forward to being paid to do something I do for free at a Brownie meeting (we’ll have them making newspaper bridges …). Mind you I’m not looking forward to any of the secondary schools (the state schools around here are rather pants, so much so I changed my view on private education (I was very against the stuff until I moved here!)). Lets just say none of the secondaries seem to care much about the public’s view of their pupils and their behaviour (something the state schools where I was educated cared very much about, particularly my school which was one of the most strict).
Things down on the south coast are all a bit up and down (or rather in some cases stopped), as the Spinnaker Tower opened to the public today … except it was only the internal lift as the external stopped again, with the proj manager, a contractor’s staff & the lift company’s engineer in it! LOL the proj manager was one of the people in it when it broke down last time … he’s a curse on the thing ;). That aside, the views are great if you get the chance to visit us down here (besides the glass lift isn’t really worth the £2 if you ask me, it’s just a flash hoist lift after all … hmm mind you I didn’t tend to look down from that thing).
