Well things are finally getting festive around here. We put some tinsel on the desk divider on our quad and baubles on in-trays along with some festive draping of tinsel on the many plants in the area yesterday. Then today it went further and we lost the Bah! Humbug tag and put up the rest of the decs (with the use of a clean litter picker … the wonders of being next to Waste Management) in the section this morning. I suppose I better get the decs out sometime in the flat, but I’ve started with putting my xmas cards up ….

On other matters in the new year we will be having a move around as Structures will be joining us on the 4th floor in the name of the ‘New Engineering Consultancy’. I have 2 desks once more but my maritime desk when from a great position to a rubbish one after being turned 180 degrees. Now when I sit in Maritime I won’t be able to do sneaky posts as I’ll have my back to the main throughroute in the section and my computer screen will be there for lots to see :(

However before then (and the start of the Christmas Site Shutdown) I hope to get about 950 flash road studs down in the next week assuming Monday is dry so the delayed line painters can lay the white lines (I’m currently crossing fingers & toes). I have to say that the ‘active’ studs are really cool. Dr T would certainly be impressed as they feature white LEDs, I know I have some money left for his xmas pressie but alas the active studs cost about £20 each so he won’t be getting one (although I might tease him with one over the new year if we have them spare). They have a little solar cell on top and then 2 LEDs which permanently light up and I believe flash when it gets dark …. We shall see how they look hopefully come next week! The rest of them are boring reflective ones but circular so can be picked up at any angle so hopefully we shall be having less crashes along that stretch of road in the future.

But now its time to go back to site diary write up & traffic calming references on drawings …. Whoah I cannot contain my excitement (she says with a sarcastic tone of voice). Mind you I have earphones & CDs … hmm I think a bit of Nelly Futardo is going to be played.
