Let Battle commence!
So its time for another 4 month Pre-payment certificate (PPC) and another bash of trying to loose the rubbish skin with a new ‘gunk’ to try. ‘cos I was good and finally went to the docs (icky icky places, the dentist the night before for 2 fillings I was far calmer for), as Dr T sort of made me go …
At least the NHS is working for me, as the new gunk (to join the collection) costs £35 a tube … and the NHS prescription now costs £6.65. Bad thing for the NHS is that if last night is anything to go by I’m on the max allowed so that will last me a whole 4 days!
But being a market savvy soul I’ve got my PPC and in just 1 friendly local pharmacist visit its paid for just over half the cost and at this rate I’ll be putting in my repeat tomorrow for the weekend …. So within a month it will have easily paid for itself (which on its own is a scary fact!). So £33.90 for 4 months, money well spent.
So if you like me see the green slips far to often (oh and I can see a battle with the surgery battleaxe of a receptionist …. Who often doesn’t see the difference between weekly and monthly limit!) and don’t have a PPC … all you need is 5 bits of green paper over 4 months for it to be worth it, they also do yearly ones! But its surprising that so many people don’t realise these exist.
… As for the battle, the new gunk is for 4 weeks (‘cos it has strong scary things in that you don’t want to use for too long!) and then see. Crossed fingers things will have cleared up, if not its to the next stage of the battle …assuming I manage to keep up the enthusiasm!
… and in trying to work out that yesterday’s green slip worked out to 59% of the cost when done on individual prescription charges don’t bother with the web. The Department of Health (them people in charge of the NHS, and where google will send you) will tell you how to be exempt and reduce the prescription charges, do the pdfs etc. for prescriptions … but you won’t find anywhere what a NHS prescription charge is. Isn’t that a fairly basic piece of information you’d think people would want to know?
