PH Shopping commences ...

The Pack Holiday wheels started to turn last night, with a Pow-wow about what Pack Holiday is all about (having gained half a pack last term … it needs explaining and questions answered).

We seem to have about ¾ of the unit interested … so based on this we purchased the first items for the holiday … the gift they get at the end. Admittedly the gift does have a plan behind it. For I have just bought up a substantial number of ‘Withit’ record style bags reduced to half price in WHSmith to £1.49 (I thought from £3.99, but it seems on closer inspection the original price was 9.99, bargin!). You see we can cunningly get the girls to put all their badgework bits in there from Pack Holiday/ diary stuff so they don’t all loose it and can keep all the things they make together; hopefully so they complete all the badges they have the option to do at Pack Holiday. Any bags left over can be utilised as Point Chart (yep we have points, but in a way to encourage teamworking & helping out without being asked as well for things like inspections) Prizes at the end of term for those who don’t attend PH (hence last term’s winner’s the Elves will have the range of Brownie Owl figures so they can decide between them who has which one).

So next step I guess is getting back the forms & deposits (will we have ‘nut brownie’ to contend with on the kitchen front .. we await). To see how good our estimate was on the numbers. Next step after that? Theme decision, us leaders feel that Narnia is favourite, although we may have an outsider pip it to post!

Meanwhile next week card selling starts at Brownies, and hopefully tonight I’ll get round to writing the letter to the Div Comm asking for money (District is a bit of a dodgy area at the mo, as the DC has resigned but not told the Guiders (unless you count a thinly veiled comment as her telling us she was resigning .. I didn’t twig), and neither me or Kestrel want to rush in and ask about stuff as we know that will lead us to being pressurised to take the role on (to which the answer is NO, we value our relationships (to our kindly menfolk) too much for any more Guiding to invade!). I shall also try county, but don’t hold out much hope there.
