In-house drifle

They recently decided to change our in-house magazine (although that’s pushing as it’s 8 pages long). So we have gone from ‘Us’ to ‘Link’ & ‘Link2’ (4 pages corporate stuff, 4 pages of Directorate).

Now most in-house publications are not great, but seems from the change has plummeted ours further down into the depths.

They’ve removed the most useful bit ‘Small Ads’, allegedly to the intranet .. but no signs of life of it there. Otherwise it’s a bit of an exercise in how wonderful the management is. Our Chief Exec fills the front page … but having been subject to many of her e-mails I’ve not bothered to read it. She’s not one for plain English and loves to use jargon (hmm what is everyone always seeming to be told?) … It’s always going on about her whim which actually hasn’t seemed to change much for the better from our point of view, just moved other things around (no doubt giving our HR department a reason to give themselves a pay rise, the current bods hate to see other people getting things they deserve (like Diving payments … you know the risks are higher & qualifications are paid for, so its reimbursement!) and therefore more money than HR (we don’t have a high opinion of HR as you may guess … they’re as bad as Finance is now all done under the CE’s whim).

Personally I’d like to find out about projects other departments/ sections etc. work on; rather than the latest management whim. Hopefully it’s a first issue blip … if not, I can see it going straight into recycling bins without passing through the eyes of the receiver.

Hmm we’re allowed to provide feedback/ suggestions on the publication .. somehow I think very little if any will be positive, whether they action any of the suggestions is another matter entirely!
