Frustration & Pleasure

Work is empty, dead, uninteresting. This is really annoying as I need to make up some time before the end of the month to keep the flexitime in balance, so need to find something to keep me occupied other than filling in timesheets (yawn) and sorting out paper. I’m finding myself getting frustrated a lot at the moment as I have a team leader who fails to see i) he has a team; ii) he needs to lead them. Hence work is very much a peer working/ info sharing exercise (minus leader who’s never around) where we’re meant to be reminding him to do our appraisals (which are farcical at best and pointless in this case; of course no extra money will come of them). Hence there are mutterings all round of applying for jobs elsewhere when they come up. If he doesn’t watch out our team leader will have no team to lead. Unfortunately he’s got there by the Local Government mode of promotion, i.e. when the music stopped he’d been there the longest so got promoted.

Out of work, life is rather better. Brownies is going well (if anything too well! The girls have been great at organising themselves and well been angelic behaviour wise). We have the church ‘Celebration of Youth’ on Sunday instead of church parade; personally I have visions of it being rather shambolic, but we shall see (and I’ll cross my fingers in the meantime). Mind you it will be the largest number of girls we will have had in the church at any one time! The last 2 of 12 new girls this term will make their promise on Tuesday ready for Sunday!

Its also time for me to sort out my YL Leadership Qualification (that’s wood beads to you scouty lot) mentees as I’ve rather neglected that this term … 2 of them are far more organised than the other one so hopefully when I meet up with them most stuff should be completed and it’s the home run towards gaining their warrants (ie LQ) maybe the other one will have sorted out some evidence for me to sign stuff off.

Had a nice catch up session with the newly marrieds on Saturday, involving food and drink. Alas no late night as we were all starting to fall asleep (particularly TWMII who was finding the comfy chairs a bit too comfy … much like previous occupants!).

Dr T is still being a man of leisure …. But at least he’s cooking me pasta bake tonight :).
