Driving Tunes

Currently Top Gear (essential viewing in our petrolhead household … yep Dr T does like cars, just not learning to drive!) has a thing on about the best driving tune…

Now they have 5 to chose from on their website, all a bit rubbish in my view.

Been doing site diary write up, this is rather tedious and repetitive activity in the same style as CAD so the earphones (but sound at a level that phones & voices at desk can be heard) are in to improve concentration.

I’ve just been listening to an essential driving tune … Metallica, Hero of the Day, from the S&M album (rather than the original version on Loaded). The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra just adds to the tune for the full driving experience. (mind you the whole of the S&M album is good to drive to)

So what are your essential driving tunes?

Hmm Caz adds Toccata & Fugue in D Minor by (I think) Bach, good organ stuff enhanced by the Fab’s 8 speakers (somewhat lost on the old Pug’s 2 speakers), nice bit of bottom end stuff (that’s the tuba player still in me) it’s also enhanced by a good bit of civil engineering to be driving over/ on at the time (think bridges & long open stretches of road). Erasure & ABBA for a bit of in car singing to keep me alert! Cardigan’s – Erase & rewind.

Highway Star? A bit rubbish? If it were not for Machine Head and albums like it, there would be none of the Metallicas of whom you speak! Go... buy a copy and stick it in your car. Now!

Anyway, I thought the Fender Queen Household was full of Diesel-heads?

--paj, who clearly voted Deep Purple's Highway Star as the Number One driving song before it was even mentioned on Top Gear!

Well maybe they aren't complete rubbish, it could be worse there could be Britney Spears and Steps on the list. It's just not my choice of Driving music.

I suppose we are die sel (a la VW ad as it is a VW engine) household, not that Dr T had much say in the matter. However on hols we were petrol heads (at a max of 41p/ litre) with a very pants car .. a Chrysler Sebring (mainly driven by Rover types it seemed). Acceleration .. what's that?
