I finally started my revision for the Coastal & Harbour Engineering exam I have to sit on Monday last night. The past paper I tried went well despite not really looking at notes for it, I must have absorbed quite a bit in the lectures/ at work. I think the main bits I have to cram are the equations and various design considerations to be taken in 3 main aspects; breakwaters, port layout and modelling (some more easy to remember than others). As for the equation stuff I think sediment transport is sorted (I can still remember the essential equations required from last night), so tonight will be modelling equations and questions (in later past papers). Think that I can pass the paper with fairly minimal revision, however I want to get a decent mark (at least what I got for my degree (a desmond)), but want to essentially “do my best”.
Only prob with the revision is that my mind is distracted with holiday thoughts. I’m so looking forward to a proper holiday where we (Dr T & I) set the agenda and not others! Been to the MEC site for shopping list formation (its getting a bit pricey, but still lots less for the same stuff in the UK e.g. pair of trekking poles for the price of 1 in the UK ). I’ve been to the Revenue Canada site and downloaded the form to get our GST back (the federal bit of their VAT) on $50+ purchases and accommodation (min claim $200). Oh only 9days ‘til I’m on a jet plane ….
