Life at work is very quiet on two fronts; both the workload as well as the colleague front. I have my pod neighbour in Barcelona for a couple of days (nice place, but the company he has pulls things right down) and the other bod previously on our pod of 4 moved up the office weeks ago .. so that’s just me on this pod … the other two desks across the way (managers) are empty half the time. Not helping is my current restless nature with only small bits to sort out and nothing to get my teeth into. Hopefully tomorrow brings something of interest. Due to the workload issues I’m going to be working in Traffic Safety for 2 days a week on some Highway Design and Project Management stuff … hopefully should entertain me and they are a fairly relaxed section so should be OK on the working style front. they are usually a client section of Highways in the Consultancy, I had to explain that Ports are far more relaxed and less formal than Highways, which they are used to. We shall see where tomorrow takes me.

Thursday sees me in the big smoke for a ICE seminar in the afternoon, followed by the President’s Reception (aka Sophie Wessex, who holds a similar PR position as the Chief Scout, with the Chief Guide dealing with the running of GGUK for all you scouty types) around the corner in St James Palace (so I can shut Dr T up as I’ll have been there after Thursday). I have a bit of shopping to do tomorrow after work following Dr T’s comment on my wearing ‘the skirt’ last week for my birthday, a longer top is required to be more flattering in the tummy area than the one planned. Fortunately one was seen in H&M in the original purchasing phase so I shall hope the Pompey store has it, however it has long sleeves and the overshirt I got has 3/4 sleeves, it also has a stitching fault on it … so will return that and get a refund, buy the alternative top (hopefully) and be sorted for Thursday’s all day skirt fest! I might even have time for some interest badge purchasing as I’m going to take walking but not that smart shoes to do all the London walking in and then my new shoes (which rubbed last week with my wide hot feet, smart ladies shoes and my wide feet are never happy together!). But first on the list is a visit to the ICE bookshop for a book.

Still restless but better get on with some fender related work ….
