Pondering on the fact that this time next week I’ll be getting excited about picking up the new car, an estate car at that! I’ve spent my life growing up with a variety of estate cars (mainly due to Dad’s love of carrying sectional ladders, damp meters, drain rods etc.) which have transported gear to Guide camps, Brownie Pack Holidays, University, furniture for flats. Its nice to think I’ll have the friendly comfort of one of my own. Mind you I’m not the first female in our family to own an estate car. My mum started it all off with the first of the family estate cars .. a maroon Marina Estate which I came home in after I was born (and the same with my sister) and in the photo (no doubt taken by Big Granny (so named because she was taller than Little Granny)) there in the background is the Marina… it was much loved by my parents as I guess it was around at a time when things changed big style for them with the arrival of us two!

Despite what my friend Mel thinks (which is that Dr T has 6 kids hidden away, he claims not to you’ll be pleased to hear!) or what some of my friends have said when I said I was getting an estate car I’m not planning on Kids any time soon! I’m going to enjoy the space an estate car brings when camping and working! Yeah a portable office, I can sit in the boot and sort out work unlike my current car! Mind you it’ll be sad to say bye to ‘Little Devil’ but as my friend Mel said its going to get loved by someone else now …..
