Well the weekend has finished and the hire car has gone back .... but had a lovely weekend of doing not a lot which I is just what I needed.
As for the hire car, definately decided on that I'm going up to a bigger car when the little devil gets replaced (although that's probably unlikely to be much before 18months time). The focus was OK but there were things about it that good and bad, but then I'm not thinking of getting a focus. It was only a LX but had the following good things CD player, Electric windows (which Tom enjoyed playing with), large boot, A/C (didn't test that it wasn't warm enough), higher driving position (you can raise the seat as well as forward/backwards) but also some bad points/ niggles non magic button locking (aka remote central locking), huge rear pillars (to make reversing fun) and so poor visibility out the back, its a ford repmobile so there are too many of them about! ... but it was certainly smoother on the motorway with a 1.6 instead of a 1.1 ...hmm I smitten with a bigger car I feel ... but NZ and lots of pennies to be saved before I buy a new cazmobile .... but I can dream! But the big car wish list has started with magic button locking at the top!
As for the weekend, other than driving lots in a new car (52 reg) we went to see The Hours, which was good, I got past the nose thing after a while (although there was one scene where I felt you could see the join). I thought Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep were better than Nicole Kidman but maybe that 'cos I'm not a fan of period dramas. It had a sort of twist at the end which I'd not figured which made it come together at the end well. Tom's currently just started reading Mrs Dalloway so I think I'll maybe have to borrow it after he's finished getting past the first line 'Mrs Dalloway said she would buy the flowers'.
Hopefully Perry's permitting I'll get the door lock fixed today ... so I won't have the choice of added ventilation car or alternative means of transport (but will hopefully have enough notice to get a cheap train ticket) in two weeks time when I go up for the Lufbra Beer Festival. Also I will be able to loose the latest accessory of a walking boot lace
Oh and one last think ... for those of you in the Guiding World Happy World Thinking Day from saturday. I returned from the weekend to find I'd been sent a handmade thinking day car from one of the people in the NZ team\(... the county commissioner ...same age as mum but definately older looking writing than her). We have our meet up on 22nd March at CHQ (so I loose the weekend of Tom down in Pompey for it) so hopefully that will go well.
