Fishing Nets?
I went to a coastal conference in the Big Smoke, spending 3 days in a basement lecture theatre at SOAS. I absorbed a total of 35 presentations... which now I'm digesting out to the office. It's filled a lever arch file with presentation slides (mainly 2 per page) & accompanying literature... no wonder my brain hurt on the train back to the south coast last Thursday. There was a fair bit of stuff directly connected to my job, some bits that are background/ greater awareness stuff ... and some that isn't really my job at all. The curve ball presentation that I enjoyed was one on 'Fishing Discards' it seems an odd thing to find interesting, and the bloke wasn't super animated, I think it was that a little change in the nets etc. could make a big change in the catch ... so just by changing the end mesh from a traditional diamond to a square mesh end on a cod net you can have a lots less discards and better quality cod to sell (as is not been nicked with shells etc.).
Poor Dr T then only saw me for 90mins as I was packing the car for a weekend of crafting and time with my sister in the homeland, we were in the southwest sticks ... somewhere I've not gone to really much other than to the county guide campsite since I left Kent. I had a lovely time, and B enjoyed herself as well. She learnt lots of new crafting techniques and took them all like a duck to water. She really miffed us with her faultless rubber stamping from the start! We had a wonderful class by this lady and her wonderful stamps where we made artist trading cards (arty crafty playing card creations) using alcohol inks (fab stuff!!!), B loved it so much she bought some bits to continuing playing at home, we all went home with a stash of her stamps which was fab ... a really great buzzing class...
Lots more playing and creating later, I headed home ... and Dr T got to see a bit more of me... but not a lot more of me until now.
....except Dr T will have me escaping again I'm off to an all day crop (craft meet up) on Saturday and have just booked onto a fab (and pretty cheap) long weekend of it in June :)
But we've been sorting out lots of Dr T & Caz time around my birthday, when we will be touring East Anglia...so that will be nice to get lots of time together!
