Guiding/ Scouting Vs the rest of the world ...
I wasn't quite sure how to title this post ... but basically I'm trying to say Guiding/ Scouting Vs Sports Clubs.
My BIL currently has his hand/arm in plaster for 15 weeks due following an illegal hockey foul and a bad landing on his hand. At least it was his right hand as a left hander... He was obviously in pain following this ... The pitch side treatment? Some ice from the bar and someone will run you up to the local minor injuries at the end of the match. It actually required a visit to full on A&E once they arrived at Minor injuries (but did choose the better of the 2 A&E available for that area), and may need pinning following a couple of weeks in plaster. So not a simple little break, think a metatarsal of the hand ... and a couple of other bones ....
My sister (having her Guiding hat thoughts) isn't best pleased at the moment with the Hockey Club. She as probably many of the resdership here put on her 'what would I do if this happened to one of my Guides' thoughts. She came to the conclusion with the obvious pain shown and the pain being experienced to call out a ambulance to minimise further possible damage.
So my sister has full reins on the car (when its hopefully sorted) as BIL can't drive, the menu is selected for its ability to be eaten with a fork and she's doing the washing up. 15 weeks brings you up to Christmas ... so my sister feels some taxis coming on for the festive meals as she doesn't want to have to drive for every one of them (oh the option of not having to drive!!! I can but dream).
So it makes you think, how we cover so much to make sure our kids our well looked after and safe whilst in our care... and that it flows over to other things in life. Maybe it's more poignant having this conversation tonight having just done the Parents meeting for the forthcoming trip to EuroDisney.
