Kites & Coasts

On Thursday night after a post work/ ship spotting curry we headed to the Seafront/ Common to try new toys.

I was really surprised that it only took me 15 minutes to get my new 2 line kite up for a decent amount of time (it's my 1st 2 line kite). Giving a bit more time, I'd really got the knack of the kite, even managing to get it up straight from the ground (as cunningly I'd seen the techniqe at the kite festival). Dr T's pocket parafoil didn't seem to work as well as it should. Mind you I had a couple of heavy landings due to tempremental wind coming on shore ... so a bit of gaffer tape protection is required prior to the next flight.

We then sat on the seafront and watched the sun set .. Dr T of course took photos.

It was nice and calm and well just warm and fuzzy being there with the wind in my hair and Dr T sat next to me. It also made me realise I love living by the sea, from the calming of the waves in the tide & just being able to go and play with kites after work if I want to. I don't know why, but I love just standing on a coastline with the wind in my hair, smelling that salt air. Maybe that's why I've never lived more than about 8 miles from the sea.
