The end is nigh....

The end of my time in Canada is coming to a close ... and thanks to Ottawa Public Library I have time for posting and check the beeb (for the first time in pretty much 3 weeks I've managed to get more than 15mins computer time!!) so can find out the UK view on the world instead of the CTV view of the world (the one station the flat TV can seem to pick up enough of a signal, although still a bit snowstormy).

Mind you as of last night I've hit the missing Dr T stage ... wanting hugs, so its time to come home. I've enjoyed my 3 weeks of freedom, loved camp (where due to being so busy/ having lots of people to share experiences with I didn't have much time to think about Dr T in thsoe 2 weeks).

Had a bit of a packing/ weight limit crisis last night/ earlier ... but with a the majority of things in bags the bits remaining aren't all that heavy so I might be OK. I'll wear my GM programme polo and the international necker ... smile ... and see where it gets me! After all I might have someone who saw the bit about GM on the national news check me in .... Let's just say I'm looking forward now to getting those bags checked in and myself on that plane. ....oh and lots of vegtables!!!

Why the veg? Well camp was very much a meat eaters fest with a general lack of veg/ fruit (other than intermittant orange/ apple) and I don't think I'll be rushing for either hamburger/ sausage/ hot dog/ cold cuts (that was the staff only option for lunch & dinner before the girls arrived and the lunch option every day...). But if that's the main thing I have to complain about, camp can't have been too bad. Let's just say when a contrabnd parcel in the form of a cool box of fruit arrived it got devoured vey quickly between the 20+ sci & tech staff in about 20 mins of our post dinner meetings... boy did that nectarine & cherries taste good!!! Mind you the fruit and veg quota was pushed up yesterday by a yummy chinese buffet (see no Dr T so Caz can eat chinese to her hearts content ....) with lots of melon & bok choi. The only other thing I can say about camp is that you saw the best of Guiders and the worst of Guiders... some seemed to forget the part in the promise (both sides of the pond have that bit) of thinking of others before themselves ... some Guiders it was all a bit me me me.... but in Sci & tech we had our mantra 'it's for the girls' and it showed it seems as often it was the sci & tech sessions that were top of the list of favourites, good news as this was the first major Canadian Guide camp to have a significant Sci & Tech programme ... so I think it might go forward to the next big camp, let's hope (I think I've already been a bit collared for 2010 if they do one again like this... I said they should come over to my side of the pond to where Guiding started for 2010!)

So I had a great time, dread to think of the e-mails awaiting me at home (I'm sure that one account has probably been bouncing due to all the spam it gets, but I wouldn't have been able to keep up with the clearing. I only jsut about got time to send out the e-mails/ blog posts I wanted). So normal service probably resumes on Monday when work becons ... and the washing will hopefully have been completed.
