Long time, no type

Life seems to have settled down again after the manic post hols period. Although still playing sleep catch up (not great when you aren’t one to lie that much anyway), but early morning low tides for work don’t help with the sleep recovery. Hence I’m feeling the need for matchsticks this morning.

This weekend just gone, was good but busy as we had visitors descend on us here. First to enter the flat was James, who was spending part of the day with us before heading to birthday dinner fest over in Soton with TWM2 & AAA. So we headed down to the seafront, as it was a nice sunny (if a bit blowy) day. We had a wander, lots of chat, ice cream/ chip lunches, a play on 2p waterfalls (where James & I managed to make the winnings last for ages it seemed (we’d loose it all and then on the last couple win a stack back…)), before hovercraft watching next door onto the beach … then it was time for James to head a bit west.

Then later we had my parents take us out (they’d amused themselves over the day by taking the hovercraft over to IOW on a hover-rover so had seen the council estate of Carisbrooke & Cowes on their way to Osborne House & Carisbrooke Castle (get that EH membership out!)) for dinner. It was to a favoured haut, as shared with SAGS in June of ‘Fistful of Tacos’. It’s a really yummy Californian/ Mexican restaurant, mostly aimed at the student massive, but great for locals when the kids go home for the summer … After last visit I tried the ‘Fisful of Tacos’ as did Dr T … they were a bit annoying to eat with a knife and fork, they looked really yummy when Alex (male) of SAGS had them, and indeed were tasty if annoying! Mum and Dad had my usual favourite of the trio of Enchiladas …. All started off with a plate of nachos (but only an 8”). Maybe next time when I’ve not had fajitas a few days before I’ll go for their yummy sizzling fajitas!

Then on Sunday we, well more I, entered entertained my parents up the Spinnaker Tower, bless it’s the first time the olds have been here since it opened so Dad wanted to go up, the weather wasn’t great and visibility wasn’t good when we got up … but over the visit the weather cleared and we ended it with sun over the Spitbank/ Solent. So Mum and Dad got to spy Osborne House, Fawley (ooh lovely sight .. its an oil refinery) and I just made out Chichester cathedral spire (sign of good visibility). So Dad was well chuffed, and Mum enjoyed herself too. A spot of light lunch before a wander along to Old Portsmouth and my parents dropped us back home before heading home themselves.

It was nice to catch up with both parties … and then we headed over to Soton to have a BBQ at TWM2 & AAA’s along with associated pressie deposit as we’d been out the previous night. My pudding this time was a mango and yoghurt dip (as nicked from Auntie Mel), it went down well with all the fruit (and marshmallows) so I think for fruity pudding that will come out again!

I know the feeling, I've finally gotten past exams, my job and this years big camp, GlosCamp and just when I think it will calm down I have a thousand (okay 4 dozen) requests for stuff to be done on either the SSAGO or my other website and 3 more camps popup making it 6 weekends in a row spent on camp!
I can't wait till University starts up again!
