Fun at Foxlease...

Winter Weekend was very good. We were a small but select crowd in The Barn @ Foxlease (so plenty of room and we spread amongst the dorms).

A lot of catching up took place, not a lot of thinking, a bit of wandering and quite a bit of eating a drinking. We found something to rival Port & Chocolate fingers, which is Bootlaces (the really long ones that are hollow) and cider/ beer/ wine you can even do a siphon effect (as tested) to save the effort of sucking your alcohol. Mind you there is a flaw … after while the alcohol/ liquid breaks up the bootlaces so you have to have a smaller straw. These tests were carried out after visit to the Sweet Shop at the bottom of Lyndhurst High Street. Also quantities of popping candy were bought, after trying some Ritter Sport with ‘knalbrust’ (I think that was how it was spelt) which as Claire found out wasn’t crisp rice as her sister had thought, but popping candy. Master A of course tried to be the centre of attention over the weekend, not that we minded as he provided good entertainment.

There was much conversing, two late nights, but happy feelings after a good weekend away .. the drizzle we had didn’t dampen our weekend!

We also did some serious stuff, like giving Foxlease an in depth evaluation form (so Anna is handing it in with explanation so not to scare them!), and planning ideas for AGM 2007. We are still umming and arrhhing which houses to do what in (we’ll need two for the numbers). We like The Barn as it has a huge hall (so good for eating and entertaining) inc. open fire (which we of course used with Marshmallows on offer Saturday night), but still want to use PML hall (which we doesn’t really fit 50+ for eating) .. but PML has two kitchens (upstairs and downstairs as it can be let as 2 bits or whole) which could be useful for some of the catering. We’ll no doubt try to plan a stay at PML sometime soon so we get a feel for the place although at the moment I think we’ll be more Barn based.
