The things I have to do to get a pint...

I wouldn’t mind going down my local for a drop of good ale, however Dr T isn’t so eager (nay generally negative about it) as the only cider they do is Strongbow (which he will drink). So all I get is moans that they only have Strongbow; so I never get there and have to rely on bottled ale or the odd beer festival for my consumption of beer. I get the feeling that Dr T thinks that if I want a pint in my local I should go down there on my own and have a pint; which overall rather defeats the point of maybe spending some time outside our now very cramped flat with Dr T (i.e. he has to be social and maybe talk to me). He likes going to IKB (a JDW) for a pint or Lloyds as they have other cider options; of course I rarely get to drink alcohol in these establishments as I’m either at work or driving. I realise Dr T isn’t as much of a social animal as me, but it feels generally as if my social animal requirements are just being ignored; hence probably why I enjoy the meals out I have with the people I run Brownies with so much (we’re all quite social animals).

Mind you I might get an outing there as it was recently my friend’s birthday, and my local is her boyf’s (and her’s .. even if it’s a quite a walk from her flat) local. So I feel the suggestion for pressie exchange location (and drink for the belated birthday girl) be undertaken at the aforementioned (GBG ’06) pub (with or without Dr T). So I actually get to drink a pint of ale, out of a cask and not from a bottle. I’m getting to the point that I’ve half given up on the idea of drinking alcohol at all as I so rarely get the chance to (I drink significantly less than Dr T in the flat). When someone is actually driving me (and therefore I can drink if I want) I act like a small child as it happens so rarely when I get to go out (as much more than a JDW lunch is pushing it on the being social front with the person I’d want to share my meal with).

So how long will it be until I get to drink more than 1 pint of beer in an drinking establishment? My guess on a sweepstake would be in the months category. At this rate I might as well give up and offer to drive my parents on xmas day to my sister’s (assuming my sister will let me go to their place for xmas lunch) and spend yet another meal out the flat without alcohol (well 1 glass of wine prob. on this occasion), ‘cos I’m driving.

Whilst it may seem a rather public place to view these thoughts, as has been said recently elsewhere; blogs give an oportunity to air thoughts and views to others. I usually end up getting wound up to the point of having to stamp my feet like a small child at times to get noticed about things I would like to do (and then being able to actually do them).

Multiple pint consumption in a pub like atmosphere ... I guess it was the Kent Beer Festival in July.
