What I did at the weekend ...
My most avid blog reader (The Blogless One), has requested that I update the world on what I did over the weekend.
The answer is not a lot.
I had Friday off on leave, so finally got a new tyre for the car before I got pulled over for its lack of tread (and DrT got to experience the wonder of Pompey Tyres). B&Q for 10% day (where I ended up with a slightly unplanned DVD rack (yipee I can buy more CDs as I have room to store them once more, instead of having to share with DVDs). Dr T of course stroked the pillar drills and other assorted power tools (in our dream house, he’ll have a shed/ outbuilding to house a pillar drill, fruit press & a few apples trees to make his own cider). Then back to the main reason for the leave … tidying up and sorting out the flat. We have really outgrown our 1 bed flat (aka top floor of an Edwardian), but would rather save money towards a house deposit than spend loads more for a slightly bigger place. Hence the need for a sort/ throw out. Over the last few weeks we’ve been sending out the recycling wheelie bin pretty much full of our stuff (it’s a family size bin, for 2 flats, but we seem to put ¾ of the stuff in). Shock horror we might end up with 1.5 bin bags to put out tomorrow!
There is an impetus for this round of sorting and tidying though, for we have a house flat guest for some pre-wedding kip space. So hence the reason to get sorted, we need a thermorest sized space clear in the living room for Friday!
Other than that we had District Brownie (& Rainbow) revels, nicely timed to start just before a home match and finish just before the end. We warned the Brownies on Tuesday, hence lots of walking mums for drop off/ pick up. The sun came out, girls had a great time. Our unit did balloon relays & fish flapping (all good party/ silly games) bases; most of the girls had never encountered these party games of our youth (Kestrel is just a bit older than Dr T). We of course confused our yellow blobs when another Guider said to go to your Brown Owls at the start as we don’t have that! The District Pressie though did say Guiders, as their unit’s Brown Owl wasn’t there, as well us lacking a Brown Owl (which of course should always be wined by a small child). We didn’t make any red blobs cry (gold star for us), although a particularly delightful yellow blob (not one of ours!) almost made one cry as the rainbow was having trouble half getting hold of the balloon (to reach the height of the balloon the Rainbow would have had to half climb the aforementioned Brownie). Ooh she thought she knew everything, and wanted the rest of her team to do as she wanted (although not asking even in a nice manner), even though they were all mixed up unitwise, not the most caring of Brownies there!
I even got to wash the car (with tall person help for a shiny, clean roof) on Friday, only to have paint dust fall on it Saturday, as the outside paintwork on the house is being done this week.

The 'roof' actually consisting of 90% of the car, with Caz concentrating on mucky alloys and bug splats.
There was a lot of bug splat on the front of the car ... a whole summer's worth of bugs!
Aye, they were the hardest bits.
In the time it took Tom (or should that be Ton) to clean 90%, it took me to clean the front with all the bug splats.
