Dr T types naughty words (and Janet Ellis for Chief Guide?)
Yesterday Dr T was a little annoyed about finding that the Garbage concert we were thinking of seeing had been cancelled. We’d had an e-mail conversation, and his initial reply (concern male parts, down below) was blocked by my work e-mail due to profanities …. He wasn’t surprised, and I informed him of a few other words that set it off (but others that don’t …). He thought it might, but just wanted to check the boundary.
Anyway we’re gigless for a while longer (we ummed and arrhed over Roksopp, but felt that it was music that didn’t gain much for us live). Roll on the next BNL tour, now that’s a band you want to see live!
However having seen ‘When Blue Peter did ABBA’ last night, I’m tempted by a bit of Bjorn Again over at Southampton. For those who didn’t see Peter “Chief Scout” Duncan et al, all I can say as a Guider he did a good job showing that Scouty types will have a go at anything and have a good laugh doing so (yep, I was a bit jealous we don’t have a person in that role). I lost count of the number of times that ‘Scouts’ was mentioned, we think it was filmed immediately after Eurojam, so suspect he was on an international camp high! I have to say I was a bit of a Peter Duncan/ Janet Ellis fan as they were my era of BP (Simon Groom just didn’t do it for me) and they showed the newer BP presenters up big time! Stuart Miles (90sBP) was shown up big time by Peter Duncan, music, singing (ie Peter could have done either bloke, Stuart had a vague hope of getting keyboard, no chance on guitar). LOL they tried to practice in the garden where they were staying, the neighbour got annoyed … Chief Scout (and Janet Ellis) to the rescue! (and the 90s upstarts realised to keep out as they were too young to pacify the situation!). Hmm maybe we should get Janet Ellis as a PR Guide? (although the blue knicker brigade would probably take offence at her having a child out of wedlock, even with the more modernised movement we have these days), she works well with the Chief Scout …

I read here [http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/news/20050922_garbage.shtml] that it
could be the end of Garbage, which is a real shame. Unfortunately, we're not
going to make it to Perth until nearly three months after their last gig :-(
Reminds me of Catatonia; shame.
