Surpr!se Yourself
Having now returned in one piece (if a bit tired) from Disneyland Paris with all the girls all safely back home …
Having the Brownies with me led me to take up the GGUK tagline ‘Surpr!se Yourself’ … for I went on 2 different upside down rollercoasters for the first time ever!!! (I’ve had a thing against such rides due to the local looping star ride often got stuck in the upside down position!) Hmm I started proceedings by finding myself on Space Mountain, with the feeling … I shouldn’t have followed the girls in here … I’m not going to like it… well despite having to remove my glasses halfway through the ride so I didn’t loose them in the ride … I survived and screamed lots! I really loved it and had post ride high! A wobbly Brownie later (she and her friend were 1st time upside downers too … and they were in the front of the ride (I was in the row behind), but I think it was the darkness that really made her even more shaken) and we emerged into the daylight again. A few more gentle rides, including ‘A small world’, chosen at the best time just as the parade was starting to come to a close nearby … we just walked straight onto a boat, we came to the end and there was a huge queue, our girls has seen a parade at the start of the day (with flukey good views and a chipmunk who danced in front of them & was teasing them!). Then to end the day was Thunder Mountain … all bar one girl wanted to go on this ride, so as I’d had a rollercoaster fix early in the day we headed off for Phantom Manor.
Next day was a half day in the studio park … I ended up upside down again with a proper loop the loop, instead of just corkscrews of yesterday on the rock ‘n’ rollercoaster. Our 7yr old was pleased it only had a 1.2m height restriction so she could go on it (bless she may be little and a bit of a daydreamer … but that girl loves the thrill of a good rollercoaster!). The wobbly Brownie from yesterday went in the same row as me .. but liked this one much better, but her friend who wasn’t as wobbly had a few tears at the end as she hadn’t liked the loop the loop. But both girls had also ‘Surp!sed themselves’.
I have to confess I think a bit of Disney magic has rubbed off on me as I think I wouldn’t mind going again (for longer I think 3 days should do everything), but without the Brownies… but I think its more getting have the thrills of theme park rides after waaay too long, I worked out the last time I’d done rides like that was a Guide Camp in Summer 96, so only 2 of the Brownies in the group would have been born then, and mere babies! Hmm does Dr T like theme parks?
