There was me getting all concerned that I could no longer be 'Fenderqueen' when along comes the Pride of Portsmouth with some poor driving skills and goes into a fender! What really amazed me was it wasn't poor weather and it was on the next berth to where it berths! So that meant I was down the ferryport to look at torn rubber and taking pics ..... so guess what I'll be sorting out in the near future. I should point out that POP (as its referred to at work) was the one that drove into the warship ... and seems to have caused quite a bit of the fender damage.

I also wore my rather nice new (and cheap) red boots to work, they may be boots but were actually a bit cooler it seemed on the feet than my shoes. They also bring a bit of brightness to what is otherwise a very brown (columns & carpets) office. Hmm I am getting a bit of a 'new shoes' buzz (or is that the smell of the leather).

Finally I shall leave you with some good olympic news ... we've won a Bronze in the Individual Womans Archery ... so guess what we'll be talking about tomorrow night at archery? Alas I'm not that good (although by longivity I'm pretty much the top woman at the club, not that there are many women!) but do have a recurve bow as in the olympics just with a lot less toys! One day I might pluck up the courage and actually enter a competition (I debated county indoors last year) to see how I am against others, I always seem to shoot better when I'm shooting with better archers so currently having a not so good patch as there are a lot of beginners... the scorepad might have to come out again!

Hmm, if archery's an Olympic sport, does it mean that archers are athletes? Caz the athlete :) But on a different tack, shooting ability shouldn't vary drastically with age (unlike power events), so why don't we hear of people dominating the sport for many years at a time? - Tom

hmm the last British female medallist was in her 50s. In shooting the bloke that won the Live Pidgeon (yes real birds) shooting in 1900 I think was 74. Would suggest the issue of hand eye co-ordination/spatial co-ordination, similar to snooker players declines with age. Also generally just travelling around/ competition in general.
