I have spent a rather nice weekend in the company of some Solent SAGGA members finding out (finally after over 3 years) what the Portsmouth Divisions Campsite is like. Sandy Acres isn't anywhere as bad as it was painted to be at Div meetings although the loo block area is in a rather desperate need for updating (but they are applying for lottery money on the building). It's a bit on the bumpy side (with some nice ones near the entrance) so it made our game of Boules interesting! This was followed by a BBQ for dinner.
All in all it was rather nice and relaxing .... and we are planning to sort out a service weekend there in the Spring (if only to make the entrance to the campsite a bit more even).
Post brekkie/ pack up we actually headed towards Southsea as the weather wasn't sandcastle weather and walked along the promanade from South Parade Pier to Clarence Pier. Being the high risk gamblers that we are we played on the 2p waterfalls ... TWM2 became far too addicted spending his small change! The weekend was finished off by a fine Minghella (the family of 'The English Patient' fame) ice cream, my recommendation is the black cherries with kirtsh hmm yummy!
