I'm currently having a quick mail and surf session with Dr T in his lab .... I've not checked anything since Boxing Day!
We returned from the Lakes to Lufbra today. It was my first time in the Lakes and they were really scenic. One of Dr T's relatives described them as a bit of NZ in GB, and I have to say she was right. A lot of the scenery reminded me of the Remarkables just outside Queenstown and the snowy bits reminded me of the Southern Alps & Mt Cook. We did some walking but I wasn't really achey afterwards. We went up Hellvelyn on the first day which was snowy & windy and I was a bit achey after so we spent the next day grockling in Ambleside/ Windermere. Then a drive up to Keswick and walk to a crag over Dewent Water which gave us a great (if cold) place to view the area whilst eating our lunch. Then yesterday we went to Grisdale Forest Park and walked around their sculpture trails. So nothing too hard but all enjoyable. It certainly made up for xmas! The snow we had last night really made it special as I've not seen snow for years now and we had about 5 inches lay at the campsite (although it was slush by this morning). So I celebrated the New Year with Dr T by having a snowball fight with him which was great fun!
