Yeah! & Oops!

Yeah! Caz has made more money over the weekend towards the Guiding Mosaic Costs :) (now into flights costs) as I sold lots of cards at my County’s Crafty training morning. It’s always a very relaxed training as often it’s a chance to try out new things. I did North African Art (string printing is my new fav Brownie craft … to feature in PH as its so easy and effective!) and Quilling (last done aged about 9-10yrs), which had mixed results … more practice required, but a very amusing session with lots of chatting and laughter. In between all this was me selling cards (and the TG providing tea & coffee) and Sandy Acres (the Portsmouth Divisions campsite which they want to improve) raffle & bits (so I finally got my sew-on badge at last!). I even managed to get the County Commissioner selling my cards (without asking) during the sessions as she was at a bit of a loose end! I think she rather enjoyed playing shop (and one of the cards is winging its way to the new Region Comm). Also was told to re-send 1 letter for county money & to drop a note into the depot for some more funds there (the Portsmouth South Depot, which covers most of the county, uses some of its profits towards international trips and large events).

Alas I didn’t have quite a many cards as hoped due to an incident on Friday evening (which utilised my Wednesday night First Response renewal training …) as I managed to attack myself with a craft knife a couple of minutes after Tom did his best Scouter voice about hurting myself! You see I was cutting down a plotter paper inner roll down to a manageable size to wrap ribbon onto, I thought I was under control and then suddenly my craft knife had gone though the roll hit my thigh and somehow flown out of my hand as well! So I now have slightly holed pj bottoms (for that was what was on my lower half at the time) and a reasonably nasty gash on my thigh, I held the cut, and then felt faint (hence the 1st Aid renewal stuff being used!) and Dr T patched things up! The cut at least was clean, and seems to be OK if a little distracting at the time! So I had things other than making cards on my mind Friday night! This started the weekend well as it seems I had a couple of other silly moments occur (like touching hot baking trays etc.).

Tonight is a busy Guiding bits night … got to get people to sign a retiring Guider’s card (made yesterday), see another Guider about sorting out her YLs onto the appropriate leadership schemes and drop off the note to the depot for the wonga! But the ruby wedding card ordered by mum is sorted, as is her birthday card … all to go into a jiffy bag for posting over to her along with her Mothering Sunday card (made ages ago!). Then when I get home I’ve got to sort out the Brownie Easter craftyness for tomorrow night. Its all go!
